Hello! My name is Julie Grohmann, and I am a licensed therapist with over 20 years of experience. I thoroughly enjoy working with children ages 5+, adolescents, and adults. I specialize in supporting clients in navigating challenges such as depression, anxiety, trauma/PTSD, behavioral issues, ADHD, and life transitions.
I have a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling, and I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor. Having served for many years in community mental health and school-based settings, I am dedicated to helping clients across the lifespan grow personally, develop effective coping skills, and achieve meaningful goals.
My approach is holistic and integrative, and I use evidenced-based interventions. I strive to build a trusting, therapeutic relationship with you to create a warm, supportive space so that we can begin to explore thoughts and feelings, set goals, and work together towards lasting change.
I enjoy working with children, adolescents and adults who are struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma/PTSD, relationship issues, life transitions, and overcoming various obstacles. My authentic, genuine, and empathic nature helps clients feel understood and heard so that they are empowered to align their values and to make meaningful choices in order to build a more purposeful and fulfilling life.
In my work with children, I tailor my approach depending on the client’s needs. I use mindfulness, art therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, trauma-focused interventions, and play therapy. Play is the natural and preferred language of children, and in using this approach, I can help children process emotion, trauma, and behavioral issues. In doing so, children learn to better express feelings, build coping skills, develop confidence, and work on healthier ways to cope with difficult life events such as family transitions, including divorce and separation, grief and loss, and social and emotional struggles.
I collaborate with parents, families, and schools when working with children so that we can all work together to navigate ADHD, ASD, anxiety, depression, school-related concerns, major life transitions such as divorce situations and adoption, and behavior issues.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, trying new restaurants and coffee shops, and planning the next family activity or adventure.
